I used to love eating at the original Sincerity Chicken restaurant located in Ongpin, even just for their chicken alone. Ordering one whole is never really enough for me and my family as we love to munch on these bad boys every time. The long-standing and well-kept secret of their recipe is something no other business can mimic. No wonder they've been around for nearly 50 years. I'm happy to see that Sincerity is finally expanding to different branches around the Metro. Their first moving out branch would have to be this one located in Lucky Chinatown. I visited them on a Saturday during lunch time and the place was packed with customers. We had to wait in line for a few minutes just to get a table. Fortunately, their chicken is always worth the wait and price.
When it comes to chicken, Manila has some of the best. There's Jollibee's Chickenjoy, Aristocrat's Boneless Barbecue Chicken, Andok's roasted chicken, and then there's Sincerity. I need to pause right now and just relish all the ginger garlicky flavor of Sincerity Chicken coming to mind. Before the Internet made them famous, Sincerity had already been around for maybe 50 years. The Chinese family behind the Sincerity franchise has kept this recipe a secret to their business, and for good reason. It. Is. Absolutely. No. Fail. DELICIOUS. And Sincerity Chicken is small enough that you can have a lot. I would say that they're small enough for you to have 10 pieces and not be guilty, but I tend to be excessive. I can have 10 and I don't feel guilty. Not sure about you.
Getting lost in Binondo is not so scary - while you are really lost and don't know where to go, you can use this time to actually discover the hidden gems of this city. If you've never seen Sincerity Chicken, you're missing a lot. Google this magical place up, I'm sure it's usually part of the places people frequent whenever they're in town. The menu here is simple but comforting. There are two things I usually go after two dishes here - one whole Sincerity Fried Chicken plus oyster cake (or better known as oyster omelet). How I wish they open a branch in Makati or Fort, I'm pretty sure people will flock here. There's this certain taste the chicken has, it's savory with a kick. It's quite addicting. I ordered a whole chicken once and brought it home. I ended up making the chicken like popcorn I was munching it while watching TV. It's really one of the best fried chickens in town!
